MELIVOIAS DEMAS

The non-profit organization “Melivoias Demas, kir te kai aion Philoktetes o anaktos” (The Body of Melivoia, the Heart and Life of King Philoctetes) ,was created in order to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the Municipal District of Melivoia and the wider region, to act on environmental protection, to utilize -in collaboration with other organizations- the existing infrastructures but also to create new ones and to disperse all of the above by any appropriate means.

The “Body of Melivoia, the Heart and Life of King Philoctetes” hopes to become a point of online and in person meetings of all the people who either come from, are related to, or strive to highlight the cultural and historical heritage of our area. Also, it is currently publishing a number of selected books (Demas is a certified publishing house), which will be made available by the organization in both physical and digital form, so that everyone will be able to read and download for free. Articles and historical information about the area will also be available on the website.

Local products and the action of the cooperative organizations are the object of the Organization, as well as the elevation of the strong points that can attract general interest.

Today, we invite you to register and participate in the effort, since our main goal is to strengthen our organization with the participation of more members, so that we can all help achieve the objectives of our charter.
Particular emphasis is given to finding our fellow villagers everywhere and the immediate restoration of communication with their birthplace. A way must be found for second and third generation immigrants to get to know their place of heritage, its history, its customs and traditions. Thus, the posts will also be written in the English language, so that the younger generations of immigrants will be able to be informed.
